Das ETC ist Teil des SCORE-Projekts mit einer Laufzeit von 2022 bis 2024. Das Projektziel ist die Errichtung einer Koalition von europäischen Städten und lokalen Behörden zur Förderung von inklusivem Sport sowie zur Prävention und Bekämpfung von Rassismus, Xenophobie und damit einhergehender Intoleranz in der Sportwelt. Das SCORE-Projekt wird vom EU-Programm Rechte, Gleichstellung und Unionsbürgerschaft gefördert und von einem Projektkonsortium bestehend aus 15 Partnern in sechs Europäischen Ländern umgesetzt.

In der aktuellen Zeit nehmen viele europäische Staaten zunehmend eine Perspektive der „internen Sicherheit“ ein, um mit der Ankunft von Migrant:innen und Flüchtlingen zurechtzukommen, und untergraben dabei jedoch manchmal die menschenrechtlichen Standards, denen sie sich verpflichtet haben. Daher werden Fälle von Hassrede gegen Migrant:innen und Minderheiten in europäischen Gesellschaften zunehmend relevanter und bedeutsamer.
Offizielle Daten zeigen, dass, trotz all der Bemühungen von EU-Mitgliedsstaaten, auf Rassismus und Xenophobie gründende Diskriminierungen zu bekämpfen, diese – gleich wie Homophobie und Sexismus – dennoch in den europäischen Gesellschaften weit verbreitet sind, und dabei insbesondere auf Menschen mit Migrationsbiografie, ethnisierte Menschen, Asylwerber:innen und Flüchtlinge sowie ethnische und religiöse Minderheiten abzielen. In diesem zusehends generalisierenden Kontext dominieren nativistische und ausgrenzende Diskurse die Medien und politische Podiumsdiskussionen. Daher bieten Städte und ihre Communities die inklusivsten und fruchtbarsten Lösungen, um Räume interkultureller Koexistenz und sozialer Kohäsion zu schaffen
Das SCORE-Projekt verfolgt die folgenden Prioritäten:
- Die Bekämpfung von Diskriminierung und Rassismus: Bewusstsein schärfen, Wissen generieren und Beispiele guter Praxis auf der lokalen Ebene zu den Vorteilen von Diversität sowie effektive Maßnahmen zur Bewältigung von Diskriminierung und Rassismus teilen.
- Inklusion von Minderheiten: Förderung des Bewusstseins und Wissens über die Rolle von Minderheiten, wie Menschen mit anderer ethnischer Herkunft, in europäischen Gesellschaften und deren Beitrag zur kulturellen Entwicklung.
Das übergeordnete Projektziel ist die Errichtung einer Koalition europäischer Städte und lokaler Behörden zur Förderung von inklusivem Sport sowie zur Prävention und Bekämpfung von Rassismus, Xenophobie und damit einhergehender Intoleranz in der Sportwelt.

The ETC is part of the project SCORE, which runs from 2022 to 24 and has the objective to create a coalition of European cities and local entities for the promotion of inclusive sport, as well as the prevention and fight against racism, xenophobia and related intolerance in the field of sport. The SCORE project is funded by the Rights, Equality & Citizenship Programme of the European Union and is realized by a consortium of 15 partners in six European countries.

In a context where many European states are adopting an „internal security“ perspective to manage the arrival of migrants and refugees, sometimes undermining the human rights standards to which they have committed themselves, hate speech against migrants and minorities is becoming increasingly relevant and significant in European societies.
Despite the efforts of EU Member States to combat discrimination based on racism and xenophobia, official data show that – like homophobia or sexism – it is spreading in European societies, targeting especially people with a migrant background, racialized people, asylum seekers and refugees, and ethnic and religious minorities. In this increasingly generalized context, where nativist and exclusionary discourses have privileged media and political podiums, it is cities and their communities that are articulating the most inclusive and supportive responses to create territories of intercultural coexistence and social cohesion.
The SCORE project directly addresses the following priorities:
- Combating discrimination and racism: to promote awareness, build knowledge and share best practices at local level on the benefits of diversity, as well as effective measures to tackle discrimination and racism.
- Inclusion of minorities: promoting awareness and knowledge about the role of minorities, such as people of racial or ethnic origin, in European societies and their contribution to cultural development.
The overall objective of the project is the creation of a coalition of European cities and local authorities for the promotion of inclusive sport, as well as the prevention and fight against racism, xenophobia and related intolerance in the field of sport.
